This is a traditional Christmas sweet in Denmark, Christmas was unthinkable without them in my childhood home, almost as important as the Christmas tree, and now 55 years later her in Australia my adult daughter demands them every year.If you find the mixture too crumbly to form into balls add a little more cream. Ingredients:
400 g rolled oats or 400 g oatmeal |
250 g sugar |
125 g butter |
65 ml fresh cream |
2 tablespoons cocoa |
1/2 teaspoon almond essence |
Directions:
1. Grind the oats to fine flour (we have normally done this in a meat mincer), melt the butter over very gentle heat or in the microwave oven at low setting. 2. (do not brown) add the ground oat meal, sugar, almond essence, cream and cocoa, mix well and place in fridge to cool. 3. When cold roll into balls about 16 mm diameter and coat with sugar. 4. Store in fridge. |
