Yet another recipe that was comes from the 2009 Betty Crocker cookbooklet, Fall Baking.
Ingredients:
3 medium apples, peeled, sliced thick (about 3 cups)
3 medium bartlett pears, slightly ripe, firm (about 3 cups)
3/4 cup dried apricot, halved
3/4 cup dried plum, halved
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons bisquick baking mix
2 tablespoons crystallized ginger, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 cups bisquick baking mix
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tablespoon coarse sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. FOR THE COMPOTE ~ In a large bowl, mix all compote ingredients, then spoon into an ungreased 2-quart glass baking dish.
3. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.
4. FOR THE TOPPING ~ Meanwhile, in the same large bowl, using a rubber spatula or spoon, mix together the 1 1/2 cups Bisquick mix, milk, 1/4 cup sugar & butter, until dough forms.
5. Drop dough by spoonfuls over top of the hot compote, then sprinkle the coarse granulated sugar over the top of that.
6. Bake another 25 to 30 minutes or until topping is golden brown & baked throughout.
