This recipe was given to me by a friend who says it's the real deal . Ingredients:
1/4 cup sugar |
5 cups self-rising flour |
2 cups buttermilk |
1/2 cup water |
1 cup vegetable shortening, melted & cooled |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450°. 2. Mix dry ingredients together. 3. Cut in wet ingredients and knead well. 4. Cut into circles and place on baking sheet. 5. Let rest 5 minutes before placing in oven. 6. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown. 7. Brush with butter after removing from oven. |
