A quick, filling meal. The recipe amounts are at best guestimations. I used 3 packages of the dried gravy, 1 large onion, a couple of good handfuls of the carrots, about 4 small stalks of celery, 1 can of crushed tomatoes. Just guessing on the yeild, but it is at least 6 hearty servings. Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef |
3 brown gravy mix |
15 ounces crushed tomatoes |
15 ounces water |
1 large onion |
4 carrots |
3 stalks celery |
1 cup frozen peas |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
1 teaspoon dried thyme |
Directions:
1. Brown hamburger with chopped onion till done in dutch oven. Drain very well (I run them under hot water in the sink). Add brown gravey packets, tomatoes, and 1 tomato can's worth of water. Stir well over medium heat. Add chopped carrots and celery, along with worchestershire sauce and thyme. Cook until carrots are tender, about a half hour. Add peas, stirring till they are heated through. |
