A DH favorite, served with mashed potatoes. Comfort food! I think I found it in a magazine (Southern Living?) years ago. Ingredients:
2 lbs ground chuck |
salt & pepper |
1 tablespoon vegetable oil or 1 tablespoon olive oil |
1 large onion, chopped |
1 medium green pepper, chopped |
2 (7 ounce) cans tomato sauce |
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce |
1 teaspoon dry mustard |
Directions:
1. Salt and pepper ground beef. Form into 6 patties. 2. Brown in hot oil over medium high heat, about 2 minutes on each side. Remove from pan. 3. Add onion and green pepper to pan. Saute about 5 minutes or until tender. 4. Add tomato sauce, worcestershire sauce, and mustard. (I sometimes add a little Kitchen Bouquet at this point.). 5. Blend and return hamburger patties to pan. 6. Bring to boil, cover, and reduce heat. 7. Simmer until patties are no longer pink, about 15 minutes. 8. Remove cover and cook 5 minutes more. |
