My Grandmas always used to make this dish for us when we came to visit. We absolutely loved it. I've tweaked it a little from her recipe, but it's mostly still the same. Ingredients:
2 lbs hamburger |
1/2 cup onion, coarsely chopped |
16 ounces tomato sauce |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
3 cups macaroni or 3 cups spaghetti noodles |
8 ounces cream cheese |
2 (10 1/2 ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup |
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Brown hamburger and onion in skillet. Drain. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Remove from heat. 2. Cook pasta and drain. Set aside. 3. Combine cream cheese and cream of mushroom soup in a bowl. Use mixer to mix it well. 4. In a greased casserole, spread half of the pasta; top it with half of the meat mixture. Over this pour all of the cream cheese mixture. Add the rest of pasta, and cover with remainder of meat. Top with cheese. 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. |
