Fresh pear and mixed dried fruit meld in this sweet, spiced chutney that's great with ham, pork chops, or chicken. Ingredients:
1 teaspoon olive oil |
1/2 cup finely chopped onion |
1 cup pear nectar or apple juice |
3/4 cup chopped peeled pear (about 1) |
2 tablespoons light brown sugar |
2 tablespoons cider vinegar |
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 (7-ounce) package dried mixed fruit, coarsely chopped |
1 pound lean ham steak (about 1/2 inch thick), trimmed |
Directions:
1. Heat oil in a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion; sauté 3 minutes or until soft. Add pear nectar and next 5 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes or until most of liquid evaporates. 2. While chutney cooks, heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add ham; cook 4 minutes on each side or until ham is thoroughly heated and well browned. Divide ham into 4 equal portions; serve with fruit chutney. |
