Ham & Maple-Apple Stack Waffles |

Create this waffle stack with smoked ham and tart, crisp apples that have been simmered in maple syrup. Serve for breakfast or an easy light lunch. Land-o-Lakes Cookbook. Ingredients:
2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine |
2 cups tart apples, cored, sliced |
1/4 cup maple syrup |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg |
8 slices cooked ham |
8 frozen waffles |

Directions:
1. In 10 skillet melt butter until sizzling, add apples, syrup and nutmeg. cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until apples are srispy tender. 2. Place ham in same skillet, placing apples on ham slices. 3. Continue cooking until heated through. 4. Meanwhile toast or bake waffles according to package directions. 5. Divide ham and apple mixture between 4 toasted waffles. 6. Top with remaining toasted waffles. 7. Serve with maple syrup. |
