Economical, easy and delicious. An old favorite long lost in a pile of recipes I've been collecting for 35 years. Add cooked carrots for a complete meal. Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups toasted bread |
2 tablespoons chopped onions |
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley |
1/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 1/4 cups milk |
1 (8 ounce) can green peas |
2 cups cooked ham, diced |
1/4 cup butter |
1/4 cup flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons prepared mustard |
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees. 2. Combine bread, onion, parsley, poultry seasoning, salt and 1/2 cup milk. 3. Spoon into a greased 1 1/2 qt shallow baking dish. 4. Drain peas, reserving liquid, and spread over bread mix and add ham. 5. Melt butter in a saucepan, remove from heat and stir in flour, mustard and remaining salt. 6. Mix reserved pea liquid and enough milk to to equal 2 cups. 7. Combine with milk mixture and cook over medium heat (stirring constantly) until sauce come to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 minute. 8.
