Ingredients:
canola oil, for frying |
1 (8.5-ounce) box corn bread mix (recommended: jiffy) |
1 teaspoon garlic powder |
1/4 cups milk |
1 egg |
1/4 cup frozen chopped onions, thawed |
1 fuji apple, grated |
1/4 pound smoked ham, diced |
1 cup cream cheese, room temperature |
1/4 orange juice |
1/4 cup whole cranberry sauce |
1/4 cup fig preserves |
1/4 cup orange juice |
1 cup sour cream |
1 pinch salt |
Directions:
1. For Fritters 2. Heat oil in a Dutch oven or deep-fryer until it reaches 350 degree F. 3. In a large bowl add the cornbread mix, garlic powder, milk, egg and onions. Mix well to combine. Add apple and ham and stir to combine. 4. Using a tablespoon or small scoop, carefully slide tablespoon size amounts of the fritter batter into the hot oil. Fry about 6 at a time. Fry for approximately 2 to 3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and drain on paper towel lined baking tray. 5. Serve alongside dipping sauces. 6.
