Polish cabbage and noodles Ingredients:
1 head cabbage |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 medium onions |
1 cup margarine |
1/2 cup butter |
1 (16 ounce) package wide egg noodles |
salt and pepper |
Directions:
1. Finely chop cabbage. 2. Put in a pan with salted water to cover. 3. Bring to a boil. 4. Cook 5 minutes. 5. In the meantime, chop onions and saute in 1 C margarine until tender, approximately 10 minutes. 6. Drain cooked cabbage, rinse with cold water, squeeze out the excess water. 7. Mix into the cooked onion; add 1/2 C butter, mix and cook until medium browned, approximately 30 minutes, stirring to prevent overbrowning. 8. Cook noodles 5-6 minutes. 9. Drain; combine with cooked cabbage, mixing well. 10. Season with salt and pepper. |
