these half moons are amust finger -food in my home!!! really deliicous with either a chicken / steak/ veggie filling Ingredients:
625 ml water |
625 ml cake flour |
60 grams butter |
pinch salt |
spicy/plain breadcrumbs |
beaten eggs / milk for dipping |
fillings of choice:- once the filling is cooked i usually add for every 500g of filling 1tbs cornflour and 1/4 cup milk to make it a bit saucy. |
i also add 1/4 grated green pepper 1/4 grated red pepper 1/4 grated yellow pepper for the taste as well as colour |
Directions:
1. place water and butter in a saucepan,onceit starts to boil,add theflour and the salt,stir until mixture comes together into a ball 2. remove from heat 3. P.S.USE THE SAME CUP FOR MEASURING THE WATER AND CAKE FLOUR 4. roll out hot pastry 5. cut out rounds and put in filling of choice 6. fold over with filling inside to form half moon ,use a fork to seal edges 7. dip the half moons in milk / beaten eggs 8. roll in breadcrumbs 9. to my breadcrumbs i usually add some sesame seeds / dried parsley....for variations 10. these freeze very well ....when needed ,i just place them in deep hot cooking oil...........yummy.......... |
