This recipe was a served at a luncheon for my a women's bible study several years ago it was very good. Ingredients:
7 ounces seasoned bread crumbs |
1/2 cup water |
1/2 cup chicken broth |
1/2 cup mayonnaise |
1/2 cup melted butter |
2 eggs, beaten |
2 1/2 cups cubed chicken |
1 (8 ounce) can water chestnuts, drained |
1 cup milk |
1/2 cup chopped celery |
1/2 cup chopped onion |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon pepper |
1 teaspoon garlic powder |
10 1/2 ounces cream of mushroom soup |
1/2 cup milk |
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Mix first 5 ingredients together. in a big mixing bowl. 2. Add eggs and 1 cup of milk to stuffing mixture. 3. Stir in chicken and water chestnuts. 4. Saute celery,onion with additional butter, salt,garlic and pepper. When tender add to chicken mixture. 5. Pour into a 9 X13 greased dish. 6. Blend can mushroom soup and 1/2 c milk and spread on top. 7. Add shredded cheddar cheese on top the last 20 minutes - so it will not get over cooked 8. Bake at 350 for 45-55 minutes. |
