I got this recipe from Juan Carlos Cruz on . This burger packs so much flavor you would never know that it was good for you!! The original recipe calls for watercress leaves, but I have never used them. In my opinion, you can leave them out or go with the original. Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey breast |
1 cup red onion, chopped |
1/2 cup red bell pepper, chopped |
2 egg whites |
1/4 cup watercress leaf, chopped |
1/4 cup teriyaki sauce |
2 tablespoons caribbean jerk seasoning |
canola oil cooking spray |
6 whole grain buns |
1/4 cup reduced-calorie mayonnaise |
1 large tomato, sliced |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, onion, bell pepper, egg whites, watercress (if using), teriyaki sauce, and jerk seasoning until well blended. 2. Form 6 equal patties with turkey mixture. 3. Heat a non-stick griddle over medium-high heat and spray with canola oil. Place each patty on griddle (may need to do it in batches) and cook for 3 minutes on each side. **You can also cook these on an outdoor grill for the same amount of time**. 4. Spread 1/6 of the mayo over each bun. Place burger on bun and top with tomato slice. 5. Enjoy! |
