A Turkish version of Mexican guacamole. From . Ingredients:
1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted |
3 tablespoons greek yogurt (or plain yogurt drained) |
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, to taste |
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil |
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest |
1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled |
2 tablespoons cornichons, cut in small cubes (small pickled cucumbers) |
1 pinch crushed cayenne pepper (optional) |
salt (probably unnecessary because the feta is salty) |
pepper |
1 tablespoon red onion, chopped |
Directions:
1. In a large bowl, mash the avocado with the yogurt and lemon juice. Stir in the other ingredients except the red onion garnish. I added a little more lemon juice. 2. Transfer to a serving bowl. Garnish the red onion on top. I sprinkled a light dusting of cayenne pepper and scattered a few crumbles of feta on top, too. 3. Serving suggestions: tortilla chips, toasted pide or Turkish bread slices, crackers, French bread, etc. |
