This is a low fat, slow cooker version that my family loves. I actually brown two packages of ground turkey. First night I serve tacos, the next morning I put all the cooked turkey in the slow cooker that night for dinner. Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey |
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped |
2 tablespoons chili powder |
1 teaspoon ground cumin |
1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes |
1 (15 ounce) can red kidney beans |
1 sweet onion, chopped |
1/4 cup canned diced green chiles |
2 tablespoons tomato paste |
Directions:
1. Cook the ground turkey and garlic in a nonstick pan, breaking apart the meat with a spoon until browned. Drain off any fat. 2. Add the chili powder and cumin and stir to coat the meat. 3. Mix the tomatoes, beans, onion, chiles, tomato paste in a slow cooker. Stir in the meat mixture. 4. Cook and cook until flavors are blended (4-5 hours high, 8-10 hours low. |
