GROUND CHERRY PIE I obtained this recipe from an estate sale when I purchased the family collection from the Ridings Estate in Grand Prairie, Texas in 1982. Ingredients:
2-1/2 cups ground cherries |
1/2 cup brown sugar |
1 tablespoon flour |
1 tablespoon minute tapioca |
3 tablespoons water |
2 tablespoons butter |
1 pie crust |
Directions:
1. Wash ground cherries and place in unbaked pie shell. 2. Mix sugar, flour and tapioca then sprinkle over cherries then dribble water over top. 3. Dot with butter then cover with top crust and seal edges. 4. Bake 15 minutes at 400 then reduce temperature to 375 and bake 30 minutes. |
