Gritty Orange Balls - Gobs |

1990 Florida Magazine in Orlando Ingredients:
1 lb ground turkey |
1 egg, beaten |
1/4 cup grits, quick |
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, grated |
1/4 teaspoon green peppercorn, ground |
1 orange zest |
1 pinch salt |
1 tablespoon oil (safflower in recipe, canola or peanut would work) |
Directions:
1. Boil the grits in 1 cup of wate. Stir for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool. 2. Mix turkey, egg, nutmeg, orange zest, pepper, salt and grits (which should be rather dry and crubley). 3. Form into 24 balls. 4. Brown the GOBs in hot oil. Shake the pan frequently. |
