A cheesey , delicious souffle. You never tasted grits this good! Ingredients:
1 cup grits |
2 cups milk |
2 cup water |
salt to taste |
1 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese |
6 large eggs separated |
salt, to taste |
pepper to taste |
nutmeg to taste |
dash tobasco to taste |
Directions:
1. Cook grits in the milk, water and salt. let cool to warm. 2. Stir in seasonings and all but 1/2 cup of the cheese. 3. Stir in the egg yolks. 4. Beat whites stiff 5. Stir in 1/2 of the whites and then gently fold in the other half of the whites 6. Spoon into a greased casserole dish and sprinkle with the remaining cheese 7. Bake in a preheated 425 F oven until puffed and golden, about 25 minutes. 8. Serve immediately. |
