Grilling brings out the juicy flavors of most fruit, and melons particularly respond well to a quick grilling. The honey and lemon add a sweet tang, and the pepper a bit of a bite. Read more . You can also serve this as an appetizer Ingredients:
1 large cantaloupe |
1/4 cup honey |
1/4 cup lemon juice |
black pepper to taste, fresh ground |
Directions:
1. Mix honey and lemon in flat dish and stir 2. . Cut melon into 1/2 inch round slices then remove the pits and cut in half so you have half-moon slices 3. Dip the slices, both sides, into honey-lemon mixture. 4. Place coated sliced on hot grill and cook just long enough to get good grill marks on both sides of the melon. 5. Place on a serving platter and generously grind fresh black pepper over both sides of the slices. 6. Serve warm as a side dish to pork chops, halibut steaks or filets, or grilled chicken breasts. 7. Note: You want melons, which are firm, not ripe and soft. 8. Also you can use any flavored honey along with the fresh lemon juice. |
