Green Beans In Garlic Sauce |

This sounds like it would be a great side dish for Thanksgiving, something a little different than the usual green bean casserole. Ingredients:
1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed |
4 oz. fresh shitake mushrooms |
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese |
1/4 cup evoo |
1 t butter |
1/4 cup fresh italian parsley, chopped |
pinch of fresh basil and oregano, minced |
pinch of red pepper flakes |
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs |
8 cloves garlic, peeled |
Directions:
1. In a suace pan, bring 5 cups water to a boil with one T salt 2. Add green beans and boil for 4-5 minutes until tender but not overcooked 3. When tender, shock beans in a bowl of ice water to prevent overcooking and to keep the nice bright green color 4. Remove after 30 seconds and drain 5. In a large skillet, heat olive oil with cloves of garlic and mushrooms 6. Saute until garlic becomes tan, but not brown 7. Mash garlic into oil with tines of a fork 8. Add beans, parsley,spices and butter 9. Toss with the cheese and bread crumbs and serve as soon as the butter has melted 10. NOTE: 11. Garlic cloves may be removed before serving, or left in for added flavor |
