Ok…It might be but I could not find it on this site and did not bother looking at any others. To all the vegetarians and vegans on the site; Bummer…. this one is not for you no matter what the title. Read more . I suppose you could substitute vegetable broth and textured TVP but I have never tried it that way and we are ok with the beef. I grew up with this and I think that Lura did too. Or at least a version of it that did not make her say WT…are you up to now? It goes pretty fast around this neck of the woods our daughters and their boyfriends all eat it without a problem. It is simple, fast and feeds a crowed for not too much money. I sent the onion through a food processer as I was making three different things that called for onion and…well you get the picture. I apologize for some of the vagueness with the measurements as this is one you kind of throw things at it until it looks and tastes right. Ingredients:
1 lb hamburger |
6-8 med potatoes peeled and diced |
1/2 med onion chopped |
4 cans of green beans drained (or the same amount of fresh or frozen) |
1/2 tsp seasoned pepper |
1/8 tsp ground red pepper |
2 tsp emeril's original essence |
12- cups beef bullion . |
2 tbs flour |
4 cups water (more or less as needed) |
Directions:
1. In a large pan or Dutch oven, Brown hamburger, spices and onion 2. add potatoes and cover with bullion, you might need more bullion or water to cover so you have a couple of inches of space between the broth and potatoes. 3. Bring to a boil and turn down to a high simmer, until potatoes are done. 4. Add canned green beans, and bring to a boil. 5. in a small bowl mix flour and broth to a thin paste, stir into stew to thicken. (you might want to add more depending on how thick you like it) 6. NOTE: If you are using fresh or frozen green beans cook them with the potatoes. |
