from the 1941 handwritten cookbook boy is it hard to read that little script . i havent tried this yet 1/4 cup flour doesnt seem enough Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 egg |
1/4 cup sifted flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 cup milk |
2 cups sliced granny smith apples |
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed |
4 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons milk |
Directions:
1. arrange apples on bottom of cake pan 2. mix 4 tablespoons melted butter, 2 tablespoons milk with 3/4 cup brown sugar 3. sprinkle brown sugar mixture. 4. over top 5. combine butter and sugar cream. 6. add spices. 7. cream 8. add egg. 9. beat til light and fluffy. 10. sift flour and baking powder together. 11. add alternately with milk spread over apples bake in 350 degree ove 50 to 60 minutes 12. serve with lemon sauce. |
