This one is a little different. It is supposed to be a copycat recipe of the Texas Lunch's hot dog sauce from Central Pennsylvania. It is not even close to their sauce - but still, very tasty. Do not let the long simmer time scare you off - it is worth it. Ingredients:
1 lb hamburger |
1 small onion, chopped fine |
1 pint water |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon black pepper |
1 teaspoon paprika |
1 teaspoon ground cloves |
2 tablespoons chili powder |
1 teaspoon dried oregano |
1 teaspoon garlic powder |
Directions:
1. Brown hamburger and onion together until no longer pink. Drain. 2. Add remaining ingredients to the hamburger and onion. Cover, and simmer on low heat for 2 1/2 - 3 hours, or until water has been cooked off. 3. Serve over grilled hot dogs with mustard and chopped onions. |
