a delicious greek salad in a piece of pita bread Ingredients:
1 whole wheat pita |
2 tbsp tzatziki sauce |
4 inner leaves of romaine lettuce |
1 tbsp black olives, sliced |
1/4 cup cucumber, sliced |
1 tbsp red onion, diced |
1/4 tomato, diced |
1/4 cup feta cheese, diced |
Directions:
1. carefully thumb the seam of one side of your pita until about half-way open. make sure to separate any inner spots of bread that may have stuck together before beginning. 2. open the flap of bread you've created, spreading half of your tzatziki over the inner bottom half. 3. sprinkle your ingredients evenly over your sauce; lettuce and cucumber first. you may also toss the ingredients together in a bowl and go from there. spread the remaining tzatziki over the flap of open bread. 4. carefully lift your full pita, shifting its filling closer to the pit of its pocket. laying it flat again, tuck the top flap tightly over your food and roll. pinch your thumbs in place, using them as you would tape for wrapping. 5. tip: make sure to wrap your pita in foil or some kind of wax paper before eating. they almost always break and tear in spots. |
