Recipe from Carolina Country Kitchen. I like these meatballs better with Tony Romas Blue Ridge Smokies Sauce. See the recipe listed in my recipes. Ingredients:
meatballs |
1 1/2 lb ground chuck |
1 1/2 lb ground turkey |
2 eggs |
1 can evaporated milk |
1/4 t garlic powder |
2 t salt |
1/2 t black pepper |
2 t chili powder |
1 medium onion, chopped and diced |
1 c of oatmeal |
1 c saltines, finely crushed |
finger lickin’ sauce |
2 c catsup |
1 c brown sugar |
1/2 t garlic powder |
1/4 c chopped onion |
1/8 t cayenne pepper |
Directions:
1. Mix together ground chuck and turkey, set aside. 2. Mix remaining ingredients; then add ground meats. 3. Form ingredients into 1 1/2-inch balls. 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until firm. 5. These may be frozen at this point when cooled. 6. Sauce: 7. Simmer in crockpot until flavors are blended. 8. Add meat balls and let sauce be absorbed by the meat balls before serving. 9. Makes 66 1 1/2 meatballs which serves 3 each. |
