Great Grandmother's Grape Salad

It's a simple recipe that's been passed down through my family. This is a great salad for a summer meal.
Ingredients:
1 head lettuce
2 cups green seedless grapes
1 small purple onion
1/3 cup mayonnaise
salt
pepper
Directions:
1. Tear lettuce into bite sized pieces and place in salad bowl.
2. Slice grapes into halves and add to salad.
3. Cut onions into thin slices and separate rings, then add to salad.
4. Add mayonnaise and mix well.
5. Salt and pepper to taste.
