Great Grandmother Marshall's Cabbage Rolls |

Passed down to me by my Grandma Buchanan Ingredients:
1 head cabbage |
1 lb ground beef |
1/2 lb ground sausage |
1 cup cooked rice |
1 teaspoon salt (to taste) |
1 teaspoon pepper (to taste) |
1 cup celery, diced |
1 cup onion, diced |
1 quart tomato (diced ) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 300. 2. Cook rice according to directions. 3. Saute celery and onion in salt & pepper. 4. Brown beef and sausage. 5. Mix beef, sausage, onions, celery, rice, salt & pepper in a large bowl. 6. Separate cabbage leaves, keeping them whole. 7. Blanch leaves 5 minutes in boiling water. 8. Remove leaves from water. 9. Roll mix in cabbage and fasten with a toothpick. 10. Place in covered pan or casserole. 11. Pour tomatoes over rolls. 12. Cook slowly for about an hour or until done. |
