This is my husband's recipe and there's a long story behind this but all friends and family will always rememeber the GRASSHOPPER torte. When he finally made it, it was a super hit can you ask for anything more with chocolate & mint together! Read more !!!! Ingredients:
crust |
2 pkgs nabisco chocolate wafers |
1-1/4 stick butter |
filling |
1 cup whole milk |
60 marshmallows |
2 jiggers of creme de cocoa |
2 jiggers of creme de menthe |
1 pint whipping creame |
Directions:
1. CRUST: 2. Crush wafers into fine crumbs (use blender or food processor if possible) 3. Melt butter 4. Add to crumbs 5. Pat firmly into bottom & sides of a 9 x 13 baking pan** 6. ** If desired, hold back 1/2 cup of crumbs for top 7. FILLING: 8. Bring milk to boil 9. Add marshmallows, stirring over a low heat until completely melted 10. Let mixture cool and then 11. Add Creme de Cocoa & Creme de Menthe 12. Whip the cream to firm peaks form 13. Fold into COOLED mixtures 14. Pour filling over crust 15. Sprinkle reserved crumbs over filling 16. Cover with plastic wrap or foil 17. Put IMMEDIATELY into FREEZER 18. Freeze for at leat 24 hours before serving 19. Before serving: THAW 1/2 to 1 hour 20. Refreeze any leftovers |
