Grapefruit With Golden Raisin Rum Syrup |

Gourmet | November 2000. Make ahead. Ingredients:
3 tablespoons sugar |
3 tablespoons water |
1/4 cup golden raisin |
1/4 cup dark rum |
3 grapefruits |
1 tablespoon sliced almonds, toasted |
Directions:
1. Bring sugar and water to a boil in a very small saucepan, stirring until sugar is dissolved, then boil 1 minute. 2. Stir together raisins, rum, and sugar syrup in a small bowl and let raisins plump, covered, at room temperature overnight. 3. Cut peel from grapefruit, including all white pith, with a sharp knife and cut sections free from membranes. 4. Put sections in a serving bowl and pour rum-raisin syrup over them. 5. Serve sprinkled with almonds. |
