My mother got this recipe from a La Leche Leauge member over 20 years ago. Now I get to make this granola for my daughter. I usually take half of what this makes to make my granola bars with. Ingredients:
6 cups old fashioned oats |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
soy flour |
whole wheat flour |
wheat germ rolled wheat flakes |
sunflower pumpkin or sesame seeds |
nonfat dry milk powder |
shredded coconut |
unsalted nuts (almonds, walnuts, peanuts or pecans) |
1 cup butter or 1 cup oil |
1 cup honey, molasses or 1 cup maple syrup |
1/2 cup water |
2 teaspoons vanilla or 2 teaspoons almond extract |
Directions:
1. Add dry ingredients and stir together. Place in a large roasting pan. Bake at 250 degrees stirring every 20 minute for 2 1/2 hours or until browned. |
