Very healthy and filling. The bars store for a couple weeks in a cookie tin. They are easy to grab for a quick breakfast or lunch and are great with a cup of coffee. I use two for a meal replacement and they are very satisfying. Ingredients:
1/2 c raisins - cover with 1/4 c water & microwave for 1 minute |
1 large banana |
1/2 c blackstrap molasses |
2 eggs |
2 t butter |
1/4 tsp salt |
8 c old fashioned oats (can be partially replaced with bran, wheat germ or any cereal you are trying to use up) |
2 1/2 c walnut halves |
3/4 c chocolate chips (optional) |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. (to be turned down later) 2. Beat first 7 ingredients in a large mixing bowl 3. Add remaining ingredients and mix well 4. Pat evenly on a greased jelly roll pan 5. Cut into 32 squares BEFORE baking. 6. Put pan in oven and turn oven down to 350 F 7. Bake for 20 minutes 8. Cool bars in the pan 9. When completely cool, store bars in a tin. 10. Enjoy!! |
