This is a recipe given to me by my Granny. I have made it for my family many times and it is a favorite. Dusting it off for this season's gatherings. Ingredients:
-- mellow dough |
1 cups flour |
1/4lb butter |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 egg |
pinch of salt |
1 tsp baking powder |
-- plum filling |
2lbs plums |
1/4 cup sugar |
1 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 cup almonds chopped |
Directions:
1. Prepare the dough: 2. Mix all the ingredients for mellow dough and, on a bread board, knead to a supple dough. Roll out and use as instructted in the specific recipe. In view of the large butter content of this dough, it should be thoroughly cooled before baking. 3. Prepare a cake tin with baking parchment. Roll out the chilled dough and line the baking pan. 4. Pit the plums and arrange in a cirle on the dough. Sprinke with sugar, cinnamon and almonds. 5. Bake in a fairly hot (375) oven for 30 minutes. |
