This is the way my Granny made pancakes. All the grandchildren had to have them when visiting. We sometimes have them for supper with good ole pan sausage! Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1 1/2 cups milk |
1 egg |
3 tablespoons melted butter |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (optional) |
additional melted butter, for brushing |
Directions:
1. Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl. 2. Mix in milk, egg, melted butter and vanilla until smooth. 3. Heat lightly oiled griddle over medium high heat. 4. Pour about 1/4 cup for each pancake. 5. Brown on both sides. 6. (I brush melted butter on each pancake as I add them to the stacks.). |
