Granny Smith Cake Goes Nuts With Hot Topping |

This recipe is very often requested. Granny Smith apples combined with walnuts, cinnamon, baked and topped while HOT with a HOT delicious butter brown sugar glaze Ingredients:
3 eggs |
1-1/2 cups vegetable oil |
2 cups sugar |
3 cups plain flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract |
3 cups granny smith apples, peeled and diced |
1 cup chopped walnuts |
topping |
1 cup brown sugar |
1/4 cup milk |
1 stick unsalted butter |
Directions:
1. In large mixer bowl, beat eggs vegetable oil and sugar well 2. In another bowl, sift flour, salt, soda, and cinnamon together 3. Add to creamed mixture, mix well on low speed 4. Add vanilla, apples, walnuts 5. Pour into greased 9 inch tube pan (I prefer tube pan with this) 6. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 7. Remove from oven and pour HOT topping over HOT cake 8. TOPPING: 9. Combine all ingredients in saucepan and cook for about 3 minutes, until mixture begins to boil, then pour over hot cake 10. LET CAKE COMPLETELY COOL BEFORE REMOVING FROM PAN |
