This was my Great Granny Farr's recipe, so it has to be at least 100 plus years old. Great tomato soup. Comfort food at its best. Good old Oklahoma farm food recipe. Ingredients:
5 or 6 potatoes |
1 medium onion |
4 or 5 large tomatoes |
flour (1 heaping tablespoon or a little more) |
salt teaspoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. Peel and cut up potatoes and the onion and boil until tender; using enough water to cover the potaotes. 2. Chop up the tomatoes (I use a blender but Granny Farr did not have one of these) 3. Pour the tomatoes into the cooked potatoes 4. Mix in a cup or small bowl: flour, salt and pepper. 5. Stir the flour mixture into the tomato/potato mix. 6. ** I add a little milk to the flour mixture and stir until smooth the add slowly to soup) 7. Once the flour mixture is in the soup, stir for about 1 to 2 minuites to allow for thickening and the soup is ready to eat. |
