Grandma's Stuffed Peppers

This recipe has been in the family for generations - with some ingredient updates through the years. This is certainly one of my comfort foods
Ingredients:
4 green bell peppers
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 garlic clove, minced
1 egg
1/3 cup white rice
1 cup water
1 diced onion
1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (15 ounce) can stewed tomatoes
1/2 cup water
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Mix first 8 ingredients well.
3. Cut green peppers in to quarters (or thirds - depending on size of peppers).
4. Fill cut peppers with the meat mixture.
5. In a dutch oven, mix the tomato soup, tomato sauce and stewed tomatoes.
6. Add the additional 1/2 cup of water
7. Arrainge filled pepper in the bottom of the pan.
8. Spoon sauce over pepper.
9. Cover and back foe 2 hours.
