Grandma's Mother's Chili Sauce |

A favourite recipe from my 103 year old grandmother. Each summer's end/autumn's beginning, the bees would gather at the screen door as she bottled this addictive blend. Ingredients:
30 tomatoes (large, ripe) |
6 peaches |
6 pears |
6 apples |
4 large onions (green, though red or other may be substituted) or 3 bell pepper (green, though red or other may be substituted) |
1 bunch celery |
4 cups brown sugar |
1 quart cider vinegar |
1/2 cup pickling spices |
2 tablespoons salt |
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional) |
Directions:
1. Boil together for two hours and put in sterlised jars. 2. Yield is approximate. |
