Grandma's Heavenly Onions |

Delicious and unusual. Grandma really knows how to cook! Ingredients:
1 tablespoon butter |
4 large sweet onions, sliced |
1/2 pound swiss cheese, shredded |
10 slices italian bread |
1/4 cup butter, softened |
1/2 cup milk |
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup |
3 teaspoons soy sauce |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and saute onions until translucent. Transfer onions to a 9x12 inch casserole dish and sprinkle cheese over onions. Spread butter on both sides of the bread, then lay the bread over the cheese. 2. In a medium bowl combine milk, soup, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Mix well and pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate over night. 3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 4. Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. |
