This is my Grandma's recipe. I learned it from Mom. Grandma used to make these for me and my brother and sister when we went to her house. Both my kids, my sister and brother, and my neice make me make them whenever I visit. They are best eaten warm with a glass of milk! Peanut butter can be substituted for the cocoa. Or add raisins or nuts (pecans or walnuts are good). Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats |
2 cups sugar |
2 tablespoons cocoa |
1/2 cup butter |
1/2 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Place sugar, cocoa, milk, and butter in a saucepan, mix and bring to a boil. 2. Boil for exactly 3 minutes. 3. Remove from heat and mix in oats. If the mixture appears a little runny, mix in some extra oats. 4. Spoon mixture onto wax paper and allow to harden. |
