There are many recipes out there for cheese straws, but I had to post Grandma's recipe. These were a staple at her house and we couldn't wait to devour them when we went for a visit. Ingredients:
1/2 lb grated sharp cheddar cheese |
1/4 lb butter, softened |
1 1/2 cups flour, sifted |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 dash red pepper (or to your liking) |
1/4 teaspoon paprika |
3 teaspoons water |
Directions:
1. Cream cheese and butter. 2. Add dry ingredients and water. 3. Refrigerate for one hour. 4. Roll dough until 1/4 inch thick. 5. Cut into strips. 6. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. |
