Another recipe from the 1980 version of the Grace Evangelical Congregational Church cookbook from Muir, Pennsylvania that was given to me by my Nana when I became an adult. This recipe was submitted to the cookbook by Grandma Strohecker. As with so many of these recipes, she didn't specify serving yield. So, I am guessing a bit. I have had a version of this so many times growing up and it is *so* good. Ingredients:
1/4 cup sugar |
1 tablespoon cornstarch |
1/8 teaspoon salt |
1 cup cider |
1/4 cup seedless raisin |
4 cinnamon sticks, small pieces |
8 whole cloves |
Directions:
1. Mix the sugar, cornstarch and salt. 2. Add the cider and the raisins. 3. Tie spices in a piece of cheesecloth. 4. Add spice bundle and boil mixture for about 10 minutes. Remove the spice bundle. 5. Serve the sauce hot with ham. |
