Ingredients:
1 teaspoon(s) baking soda |
2 teaspoon(s) cream of tarter (no substitutes) |
1/2 cup(s) firm butter |
2 large eggs |
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt |
2 3/4 cup(s) sifted white flour |
1/2 cup(s) white shortening |
1 1/2 cup(s) white sugar |
Directions:
1. whip shortening, butter and sugar until very fluffy (about 4 minutes) then add eggs, whip again until smooth and fluffy. 2. Sift flour into bowl, sprinkle cream of tarter, soda and salt over flour. Beat with electric mixer until a whipped dough forms. 3. Chill in fridge for at least one hour. 4. mix 1/2 cup sugar with 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg, and a pinch of ginger. 5. Take teaspoons of cookie dough, roll into a ball, then roll into the sugar mixture. 6. place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet, I use a baking stone. Gently press with a fork once on top of each cookie ball before baking. 7. bake 8-9 minutes in a 400 degree oven in the center rack. Cookies will be golden on the edges. Makes about 60-70 cookies. 8.
