Grandma Frankie's Prune Cake |

Nobody could make prune cake like my Grandma. So moist! Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
2 cups all-purpose flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 cup vegetable oil |
3 eggs, beaten |
1/2 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 cup cut up prune, cooked |
1 cup chopped nuts (optional) |
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine |
1/3 cup buttermilk |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
3/4 cup sugar |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the first six ingredients. 2. Add oil, eggs, buttermilk and vanilla, mix well. 3. Fold in prunes and nuts if you are using nuts. 4. Pour into a greased 13 X 9 X 2 baking pan. 5. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. 6. Meanwhile, combine all topping ingredients in a saucepan. 7. Bring to a boil and boil 2 minutes. 8. Pour over hot cake. 9. Leave in pan to cool. |
