Grandma Best's Chocolate Chip Cookies |

Found in my grandmother's cookbook Ingredients:
2/3 cup shortening |
2/3 cup butter or 2/3 cup margarine |
1 cup sugar |
1 cup packed brown sugar |
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional) |
2 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
3 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon salt |
12 ounces chocolate chips |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F. 2. Mix thoroughly shortening, butter and sugars, salt, eggs and vanilla. 3. Blend in remaining ingredients. 4. Bake 8- 10 minutes until golden brown. Do not overbake. 5. *if using self rising flour, omit baking soda and salt. 6. (For a softer, rounder cookie, add additional 1/2 cup flour). |
