Grammas Buttermilk Biscuits

These are the best buttermilk biscuits served right from the oven. It has been a family recipe for 4 generations and keeps on going. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do
Ingredients:
4 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
4 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp salt
2/3 cup crisco
1 3/4 - 2 cup buttermilk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450.
2. Sift the dry ingredients into a large bowl, add crisco and cut up fine with pastry cutter.
3. Make a well and pour 1 3/4 cups buttermilk ,mix in to a soft dough ( adding the rest of buttermilk if needed).
4. Flour counter lightly Flatten mixed batter to 1 thick.
5. Cut in to biscuits using a 3 cutter.
6. Fluff up and place on baking sheet.
7. Bake at 450 until golden brown, 10 - 15 minutes.
