This brownielike torte will stick to the pieplate; don't try to turn it out onto a cake plate. Bring individual servings to the table. Ingredients:
3 large eggs, separated |
1 cup graham cracker crumbs |
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1/2 cup chopped pecans |
Directions:
1. Combine egg yolks and next 6 ingredients, stirring well. 2. Beat egg whites at high speed with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form; fold into crumb mixture. Spoon into a greased and floured 9-inch pieplate. 3. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold with sweetened whipped cream, if desired. |
