My favorite rice recipe. I've been making it for over 20 years. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups rice |
3 tablespoons butter |
2 tablespoons oil |
3 cups water |
1 teaspoon salt |
1 cup chopped onion |
1 cup celery |
1 (4 ounce) can sliced mushrooms |
1/2 teaspoon marjoram |
1/2 teaspoon sage |
1/2 teaspoon thyme |
Directions:
1. Brown rice in 1 tablespoon of butter& 2 tablespoons of oil till toasted (light brown). 2. Bring water to a boil, add salt& toasted rice. 3. Cover and cook for 20 minutes. 4. While rice is cooking chop onion& celery. 5. Saute onion, celery& mushrooms in remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and add seasonings. 6. Add cooked rice and toss to blend. |
