USE NO SALT soup and crushed tomatoes. the data base will NOT calculate the nutrition if I state no salt added in the type. If you use that the recipe is low sodium not 659 mg. Next it assumes commercial ingredient not garden fresh crushed tomatoes. Commercial adds sugar to everything. The sugar may be elevated because of this. Use Vegetarian Worcestershire sauce if vegetarian. If using gimme lean make tiny meatballs for the sauce. Ingredients:
8 ounces textured vegetable protein or ground meat sub or gimme lean beef style formed in tiny meatballs |
19 ounces tomato soup, no salt, no sugar |
28 ounces fresh crushed tomatoes, no salt, no sugar |
1 small chopped onion or 1 tsp onion powder |
1 tsp paprika |
2 tsp worcestershire sauce |
1 large fresh bell pepper, chopped |
2 fresh garlic cloves, minced |
1 basil to taste |
1 oregano to taste |
5 dashes hot sauce |
1 fresh ground black pepper |
6 ounces mushrooms sliced |
1 cup peas, cooked |
1 cup carrots, diced and cooked |
14 ounces spinach |
1 cup corn, cooked |
4 cups macaroni |
Directions:
1. IF using fresh onion, pepper and garlic, put in pan and saute until onion is soft. Then finish recipe as directed. 2. If using powdered onion and the garlic and roasted pepper just follow directions below. 3. Very simple, put all in pan except cooked macaroni and cook. Adjust seasonings to taste. 4. Put cooked mac in a bowl or wide plate and then goulash to top. You can sprinkle on cheddar cheese if desired. This estimates 1/2 cup cooked mac per person. 5. This is designed to be a one dish meal. 6. NOTEs: 7. since using meat sub, there is no problem with tasting and correcting during cooking. You can also add more of the meat sub. Ie 1 package Gimme Lean for meatballs if desired. 8. In place of the bell pepper and garlic you can use ote you can also use about a tsp roasted pepper and garlic seasoning 9. If using real meat do NOT do so after adding and also cook meat before adding with the onion, pepper, garlic and other seasonings. 10. Using real meat it will really UP your fat, cholesterol and other areas. |
