This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Cabrera Estate in Malakoff, Texas in 1986.
Ingredients:
6 canned pear halves (reserve juice)
1 cup of the reserved pear juice
3/4 cup gorgonzola cheese
sauce
1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup golden raisins
walnuts
powdered sugar
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Place pear halves hole facing upwards into baking dish.
3. Fill each hole with a teaspoon of cheese and spread a little extra around the surface of each pear.
4. Bake pears for 8 minutes.
5. While pears bake make the sauce by melting butter in a small saucepan over medium high heat.
6. When butter is melted pour in the pear juice and blend until smooth.
7. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar and raisins then cook until bubbly.
8. Keep warm.
9. Place pears under broiler just long enough to lightly brown the tops them remove from the oven.
10. Place each pear in a small individual serving bowl then top with cinnamon raisin sauce and garnish with walnuts and powdered sugar.
11. Serve immediately.
